Sam Willmott

Sam is a Partner in the Corporate and Commercial department at Russells. Sam joined Russells in October 2014 with his training contract commencing shortly thereafter. Upon qualification in December 2016 (after a secondment at Warner Music), Sam joined the firm’s Corporate and Commercial department becoming a Senior Associate in April 2022. Sam became a Partner in May 2024.

 

Sam works on a variety of corporate matters including all matters in connection with share purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements and shareholder arrangements. Sam has recently worked on a number of music catalogue acquisition transactions for major record and publishing companies (be that on the buyer’s or the seller’s side).

 

Throughout Sam’s time at the firm he has additionally worked across a broad range of areas within the Commercial Department, advising clients in the music and the wider entertainment industry. Sam also provides advice to clients in the field of sport.  This is a sector in which he has a keen personal interest and one in which the firm is looking to increase its footprint.
