Ryan joined the firm as a trainee in September 2008, having previously worked in-house at a major record label. He joined the firm’s Commercial and Corporate department upon qualification in 2010 and was made partner in 2017.
Ryan advises a broad range of clients in the media, entertainment and sports industries. He has extensive expertise in advising well-known recording artists and songwriters on complex renegotiations and long-term renewals with their record labels and publishers, having been involved in some recent ground-breaking deals in the music industry. Ryan also enjoys working with our entrepreneurial clients, with whom he has the opportunity to build long-term relationships and become integrally involved in all aspects of the clients’ businesses, allowing him to provide tailored commercial and legal advice.
Ryan also works alongside Chris Gossage as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department, where he is involved in a wide range of corporate transactions for high-profile clients in the music and broader entertainment, media, hospitality and sports industries, including the selling and acquisition of companies, joint ventures, shareholder agreements and funding and investment arrangements.
